IT Infrastructure Engineer - Karachi
Holidaygenie.com is the UK’s leading travel agent in the specialist areas of flights, and city break holidays with a large portion of our business conducted over the internet. We pride ourselves on our level of customer service and specialist knowledge in all our business areas. We are based in Central London from where we run our own call centre, manage our own IT infrastructure and develop our own applications and web sites.
Unusually for a ‘dotcom’, especially those in the travel industry, we are well established with a large repeat customer base and are growing steadily.
The Role:
- You will be providing support on a variety of systems, including but not limited to Dell workstations running Windows XP, Office 2003 (mainly Outlook) and Internet Explorer 6.
- You will be a good communicator, willing to help and improve the skills of those around you.
- You will be calm in a crisis and a good planner, looking to avoid potential pitfalls.
- You will also be eager to improve your own skills and develop a good all-round knowledge of your field to grow as the company grows.
You will have:
- 6 months to a year’s experience in end-user, first line support.
- a thorough knowledge of the Windows platform.
- a working knowledge of TCP/IP.
- a friendly and approachable demeanour.
- good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- strong organisational and planning skills.
- the ability to work well within a friendly team in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills:
- Windows Server 2003.
- Exchange Server 2003.
- Active Directory knowledge.
- Windows XP Professional (in a domain-based environment).
- Office 2003 or XP.
- Anti-virus knowledge (we use Symantec but any relevant experience
- will be considered).
- TCP/IP networking.
- General networking hardware (switching, routing).
Desirable skills:
- Voice over IP.
- Firewalls and security.
